Technical Description:
Sewn on two recessed cords. Single wove and white moire silk endleaves and pastedowns. Rounded and backed spine. Two false raised bands placed at head and tail of spine. Lap corners.
Dimensions:
85 x 25 x 7 mm.
Decorative Description:
Covers gilt with a flowing arabesque border with fleurons in corners and blocked Royal Arms in the center. Spine divided into three panels; center panel gilt with fleurons and title. Turn-ins and edges of boards decorated with a gilt roll.
Other Details:
This set of 38 miniature volumes was given to William IV as a coronation gift and was presented in the gilt wooden case in which it is now housed — a miniature replica of David Garrick's Shakespeare Temple at Hampton.
