Artist: Chalon was a member of the R.A. and a founding member of the Sketching Society. He exhibited at the R.A. from 1801-1860 and was known mostly as a watercolorist and for his brown wash caricatures.

Pictures Benedick bowing to Beatrice (?). Picture is glued to a sheet, written on the sheet in ink above the work is the number 66, below is written the artist's name and the play title. The writing of the artist's name is similar to the artist's signature found in the Classified directory of artist's monograms and signatures, but not exactly the same. On verso of backing: "myxy 1903 77s."
