Notes (Hamnet):
A pencil note on the back suggests the plan may be for the church of St. Margaret's, Westminster. The church contained a Lady Chapel and a Trinity Chapel; among the names are a Mr. Thomas Knyvet, esq., possibly Baron Knyvet of Escrick, and a Mr. Darlowe, skinner, and a Mr. Haselwood. The churchwardens' accounts of St. Margaret's mention a Trinity Chapel while a Samuel Haselwood and Roger Darley were churchwardens in 1597. "A plott of the church" was drawn out in parchment in 1570. (See Illustrations of the manners ... by J.Nichols, 1797, p. 11, 18, 25 and elsewhere). Several of the surnames correspond to those of people commemorated in the church itself (See royal Commission on Historical Monuments ... London, vol. II).
