Provenance (Hamnet):
Richard Greene, 1601 -- Thomas Scott of Eggerton, Kent -- John Knatchbull (of Mercham, Kent) -- Chambrun-Longworth.
Provenance (Hamnet):
The names, Thomas Scott of Eggerton, Gent., and John Knatchbull on the end leaves suggest that the volume was compiled by one or more people connected with the families of Scott of Scot's Hall, Kent and Knatchbull of Mersham, Kent, who intermarried several times in the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Sir John Scott (1570-1616) was implicated in the Essex plot (See Oxford DNB under Sir William Scott, d. 1350)
