  1. Cambridge style calf binding with paneled sides, alternately plain or sprinkled panels. The panels are separated by triple blind tooled fillets with blind tooled tulip fleurons at angles. The inner panel is framed on the inside with blind pointille covered mound decorative roll. The spine is undecorated only in the second panel in a brown sheepskin label gilt lettered SHAKESPEA PLAYS: The inner turn-in squares of the boards are not tooled. The edges of the boards are tooled with a rosette in a arc interspersed with a floret gilt decorative roll. (1)
  2. Cambridge style dyed panels. The outer is lightly sprinkled and the innermost darker. The outer panel is framed with a double line blind tooled fillet, the middle panel is framed with an arched covered fanned trefoil roll, and the inner most panel is framed with a star and leaf filled lozenge roll, which was used at angles between the middle and inner panels. At angles between the middle and outer panels is a large fleuron stamp. The board edges are tooled with an indeterminate design roll. (1)
