  8. Gilt one-line and blind two-line fillets form a panel with stemmed carnations at angles. Gilt blocked corner ornaments of foliage sprouting cherubs are further embellished with an acanthus bud tool. The imbricated surround to the Pyramus and Thisbe centerpiece features clasped hands and a flaming heart pierced by two arrows. The outer border of a twoline gilt and blind fillet bears small neurons at angles. A two-line pallet with a large floral volute decorates the eight compartments of the spine, flanked by laurel sprays on either side. The third compartment is tooled with the title, once worked in a smaller type, now dislodged. Bands and half-bands, as well as the board edges, are worked with a roll (much worn). The fore-edge is gauffered with snail and lion motifs encircled in laurel wreaths, plus large and small gilt neurons, which also embellish head and tail edges. (5)
  9. Gilt over all in a late 17th century Queen's binder style, with a cats tooth roll and a triple line fillet border, to an all-over design incorporating drawer-handle tools, (with green leather onlays), pointille quatrefoil flowers and stylized tulips, and dots. The smooth spine is divided into three panels with the title and date gilt in the center panel from bottom to top, and the top and bottom panels filled with pointille flower design over a green leather onlay. The turn-in is gilt with a double and single line fillet frame with a leaf stamp at the corners. The binders name DE COVERLY is gilt in the bottom center of the front cover turn-in. (2)
  10. Gilt over all in a strap-work design with hatched trefoils and leaves at the ends of curl scrolls. The title is gilt in the center of a rectangular frame. The spine is divided into six panels with the title, author, London and date gilt in the second and third panels. The other panels have a gilt frame with a gilt fleur-de-lis in the center. (1)
  11. Gilt over all with two panels. The frame of the outer panel is built out of a pin-dot roll and a narrow double gilt line fillet, the inner frame is gilt with a wide double line fillet. The outer panel is filled with a solid and pin-dot canopy with small fleurons and annular dots decorative roll. The inner panel is tooled with corner brackets and a center ornament tooled out of numerous small tools, surrounded by circle tool. The smooth spine is gilt with a two panel design built of double line fillets, around the outer frame is the solid and pin-dot canopy with small fleurons and annular dots decorative roll. The inner panel was tooled but is now too indistinct. The board edges are gilt with a pin-dot roll. (1)
  12. Gilt over executed by a single block, with hatched corner brackets and dotted ground center cartouche with open center panel. A small trefoil-ended cross stamp was randomly gilt around the centerpiece. The (new) smooth spine is divided into six panels with gilt variable width triple lines. The panels are gilt with a heart and fan stamp that was larger than needed, and the excess areas were removed of gold leaving, blind lines overlapping neighboring gilding. The board edges were gilt with a diamond chain decorative roll. (4)
  13. Gilt over executed by a single block, with hatched corner brackets and dotted ground center cartouche. The smooth spine is divided into six panels with gilt lines. The top and bottom are left blank. The others are gilt with a large rectangular stamp the same width as the spine (possibly embossed prior to covering). The rebound covers have gilt crosshatched board edges and blind-tooled turn-ins. (2)
  14. Gilt over marbled edges. (2)

The second and third of six spine compartments tooled with title and author; remaining compartments filled with floral tools within dissected panel. Edges of boards and turn-ins tooled with fillets, decorative rolls, and flora. "BOUND BY ZAEHNSDORF" stamped at bottom center of upper cover turn-in. (1)
  16. Gilt panel design with a three-line fillet and broad arabesque border; enriched with pink goatskin onlays of stylized Tudor roses and cartouche forms. The inlaid center panel of highly polished brown goatskin bears a gilt fillet border of arabesque and other schemes. Gilt tooled onlays of polished purple goatskin form cornerpieces on a dotted ground surrounding an octagonal inlay of alum-tawed pigskin edged with blind and gilt fillets. Doublures finished to the same pattern except for gilt interlaced initials "WS" set in a roundel which takes the place of the Tudor roses. The center panel inlay is of lime green polished goatskin with a solid gilt medallion stamped in the center and overpainted with floral motifs. Title tooled to read down the spine with each word occupying one of the six compartments. A two-line fillet panel frames the spine, while floral and other gilt decoration finishes the effect. "The Trautz-Bauzonnet Bindery" is stamped in gold at the foot of the front doublure on both volumes. Title page, signed by Ross Turner, illuminator, and George D. Sproul, publisher, 1901. (4)
  17. Gilt panel design with a variable spaced three line fillet and a broad arabesque border of acanthus leaves, and dots. Outside the corners of the inner elongated octagon frame are red onlaid and gilt flowers and acanthus leaves. The spine is divided into five variable spaced panels framed with gilt lines. The false raised bands are tooled with oval, lines, and dots. The title is gilt in the second panel and the plays in the volume are tooled in a smaller font in the third panel. The other panels are tooled with an arabesque design of acanthus leaves and onlaid and gilt red and white leather flowers. The date is gilt at the bottom of the spine. The board edges are gilt with a single line fillet. The wide turn-ins of the boards are gilt with a multi line framework of fillets and pin-dot rolls, with acanthus leaves at the outermost corners and four symbols, interlaced "W S", a Minstrel's head, harp within a wreath, and comedy and tragedy masks. The center panel inlay is of brown goatskin with a gilt portrait of Shakespeare surrounded by fanciful ornamental surround with purple, red, and green leather onlays. The back inside cover is the same except the portrait is replaced with an interlaced "W S". (4)
  18. Gilt roll panel, filled with striated lozenges and full and half fleurons. A central diamond cartouche, left blank, is edged with a roll. Smooth gilt spine, decorated in the same manner as the sides, minus the cartouche. Traces of a gilt pin-head roll are present on the edges of the boards. (2)
  19. Gilt three panel covers with the frames tooled with a double line fillet. At angles in the outer panel are berry and cone fleurons with a triangular flower wrapped ornamental stamp in the center of the sides. At the corners of the inner panel frame is a gilt open Tudor rose stamp. The inner panel has a covered rosette and fleuron in-between decorative roll. The spine is divided into six panels with the panels all framed with double gilt lines. The center of the panels were stamped (now indistinct).
