Covering Material: 
Alum tawed wild boar, very heavy grained.
Sewn on three double raised cords laced through the oak wooden boards and pegged.
Endbands laced through the wooden boards and positioned as top and bottom bands on the spine 5 mm below the edge of the book-block.
End Papers: 
None, evidence of recycled manuscript paste-down now missing.
Two brass fore-edge clasps, rectangular catches with embossed plant and flower decoration. Strap plates still holding remnants of alum tawed straps (not reinforced). Hasps missing.
Decorative Description: 
Remains of vellum title label at head of front cover showing parts of handwritten roman numbers and faint evidence of red paint. Another later paper label on spine handwritten with author, title and year of publication. Another early inscription, illegible, on fore-edge, reading from front to back cover.
