Decorative Description:
The binding was blind tooled with a panel design using a triple line fillet, with the center panel divided by double line fillet into a diced pattern filled with stamps of phoenixes, lambs, and the four Evangelists' symbols (Kyriss 162) from Weissenau. (Cf. Schwenke-Schunke Evangelisten-Symbole 39, Lamm 74, Phönix 2, Schrift 324). There is a ribbon with "Mari" in the center stamp along with large and small rosettes at intersections of the diced pattern. Filling the outer panel of the front board are repeated rows of crossed azured four point stars and large Griffin roundel stamp at the outer corners. In the same outer panel on the back board the star stamps are replaced with a repeated ribbon with "Mari" in the center stamp, and is without the rosettes in the design. The spine is divided into four panels and has a faint inscription: "Bartholoma[eus] Anglicus De proprietatibus" in the first panel, and an ink handwritten shelfmark "3 3063" in the third panel.
