Decorative Description:
The binding is blind tooled in a panel design made from a five line fillet. The center panel was divided down the middle with the same fillet. The outer panel is filled with the pierced heart lozenge tool and small rosettes at the corners. The divided center panel is tooled with large rosettes and smaller pierced heart lozenge tools and a stag in a lozenge tool. (Cf. Schwenke-Schunke, Taf. 141, no. 61, Taf. 136 no. 86, Taf. 254, no. 109, Taf. 274, no. 666a). The spine is likewise tooled with the five line fillet and the panels are filled with smaller pierced heart lozenge tools and small spiked quatrefoil in a lozenge stamp. There are paper spine labels. The larger one, at top of spine, reads "Nicolai de Lyra I". There is a small paper label in the second panel and a blue paper in the fourth panel. The board edges are blind tooled with a double line fillet.
