Covering Material: 
Worn olive/brown calfskin rebacked using alum tawed pigskin.
Sewing: 
Four raised double cords laced through the beech boards.
Headbands: 
Endbands laced into the boards, sewn with a primary sewing over a cord core and a red, beige and blue herringbone secondary embroidery.
Edge Treatment: 
Faint small inscription on top edge: "Boetius".
End Papers: 
Single paper flyleaf and French vellum manuscript waste paste-down deed dated 1616.
Closures: 
Remains of two clasps (catches and strap plates) that catch onto the front board. Remnants of vellum-reinforced leather straps.
Decorative Description: 
Binding with very worn calf leather on beech boards, blind tooled with a triple line fillet into a multi panel design with diced center panel with dragon/griffen stamps (Cf. Schwenke-Schunke, Drache 36 "Amorbach Werkstatt III") and anthemion leaf stamps. Some of the leaf stamps are used singly and also together to create a flower design. Vellum guards inside of gatherings. Tawed spine is divided into five panels with a red goatskin spine label gilt reading "Boecy Consol: Philos:".
