Inscription on leaf [a]2r "Ad usu[m] Fr[atr]is marci antonij pese[n]tis" in same hand as notes; shelfmark "LL3/29" at head of verso of front pastedown, repeated as "LL3:29" at head of recto of 1st leaf, of the Sunderland library, with the Spencer coat of arms gold tooled on both covers (no. 7067 in the Puttick and Simpson sale catalog, 1881-1883); bookplate of George Dunn, with his notes, initials, and date "Aug. 1906" pencilled on front flyleaf (no. 3359 in the Sotheby sale catalog of his library, Nov. 1911); bookplate of W.T. Smedley; purchased in 1924.

Decorative Description: 
The front and back covers are tooled with a double gilt fillet border, with the embossed gilt Spencer coat of arms. The spine is divided into seven gilt panels. Author and title and date are tooled on a red goatskin label in the second panel. All the other panels are framed with a gilt triple line border filled with acorn rhombus fleuron stamp. At the head and tail cap is a wide arched starburst and fan decorative roll. The same roll was used to gild the board edges.
