Covering Material: 
Calfskin original panels with heavy grained goatskin (new).
Sewn on four large cords laced into the boards and covered with a alum tawed leather.
Endband sewn with natural linen thread with a back bead laced into the boards.
Edge Treatment: 
Chisel cut.
End Papers: 
Fragments of a liturgical manuscript with neumes used as pastedown, wrapped around the first and last gatherings.
Two square brass clasps on the fore-edge hinging from the back boards catching onto the front, all surfaces inscribed with "walking" lines creating a crossed saltern pattern. Leather straps reinforced with a vellum core.
Decorative Description: 
Binding on wooden boards, blind tooled in a three column panel design divided into six sections. The top, middle two, and bottom sections are filled with a lily in a rhombus tool. The outer panels are tooled with repeated linking leaf tools. The center panel is tooled with cusp headed tool (Kopfstempel). The spine panels are tooled with the same cusp headed tool. A large paper label on the front cover bears the title in red and black.
