Decorative Description:
Tooled in a simple panel design with frames tooled with a five line bind fillet, where the center line is retooled with a gilt line. At the corners of the intersections is tooled a small hollow dot, blind where the blind lines intersect and gilt where the gilt lines meet. At the corners of the outer frame is a blind tooled anthemion fleuron bracket; at the corner of the inner frame is a more stylized anthemion and tulip and scroll fleuron bracket stamp. The spine is divided into six panels with the second and fifth filled with a brown leather label with gilt title, author, and place of publication. All other panels are elaborately gilt with numerous small tools, corner brackets with trefoil leaves, tulip stamps, hollow dots and center fleurons. The board edges and turn-ins are gilt with a trefoil and small scroll decorative roll.
