Technical Description: 
Sewn on five thin raised cords, with made marbled endpapers and pastedowns with one plain endpaper. Rounded and backed spine. Double head- and tailbands worked in brown, white, and pink silk. Boards back cornered. Head- and tailcaps tied round. Mitered corners. Plated covers.

98 x 72 x19 mm.
Decorative Description: 
Edges gilt and gauffered in an interlaced herringbone design. Binding, signed "BOUND BY F. BEDFORD," is decorated with gilt corner tools which in turn form a centerpiece set on a seme of stars. Border comprises a roll and two-line fillet. Full gilt spine. Edges of the boards and turn-ins gilt with fillet and roll.
Other Details: 
The gilt gauffering on this little binding resembles the edge decoration on Constantius Felicius, The Conspiracie of Catiline, London, John Waley, [1557], bound ca. 1560-65.
