The covers are simply gold tooled with a pointille line drawer handle roll outside of a double line fillet frame. At angles is a gilt fleuron with hollow and solid dots. The smooth spine is tooled with the author and title and London gilt on two lines running from bottom to top. The board edges are gilt with a single line fillet. The turn-ins are gilt with a wide ornamental decorative roll and the same pointille line drawer handle roll outside of a double line fillet.
