Decorative Description:
The current binding has a blind tooled single line fillet border. The spine has the title gilt in the second panel and ROUEN 1554 gilt in the fifth panel. The board edges are blind tooled with a double line fillet. The turn-ins are blind tooled with single line fillet border, and with two frames blind tooled with a variable width triple line fillet. The doublures are four panels framed with triple line fillets. The outer panel is filled with a medallion head roll (Oldham, Plate XLVII, HM. a(17) #786) and the third panel is filled with a smaller medallion head roll (Oldham, Plate L, h.(24) #849).
