The cover is gilt with a diamond pattern decorative roll border, with blocked strapwork corner stamps on a hatched ground. The large center arabesque cartouche has the gilt initials M S in the center. They may have over-stamped the original letters K P). Around the center cartouche is a semè of five petal flowers. The smooth spine is gilt over all with a volute stamp. The board edges were gilt with a diamond roll.
