Decorative Description:
The covers are gilt with a decorative border frame built up of a fern-tip roll and a pin-dot center triple line fillet. A gilt intertwining coil rope roll is tooled along the inner walls with star bursts and different small tools gilt at the peaks and valleys of the rope pattern. At the corners is a large gilt ornamental stamp with crescents, starburst oval, volutes, and floral stem. The spine is divided into six panels, all framed with gilt double lines. The author and title is gilt on a black leather label in the second panel. All the other panels are filled with corner volute brackets with a daisy flower stamp in the center surrounded by gilt dots and small stamps. The board edges and the turn-ins are gilt with an anthemion on a pointille and solid arc decorative roll.
