The covers are blind tooled to a three panel design; the frames are tooled with a variable width triple line fillet with tulip fleurons tooled at angles in the outer panel. The middle panel is filled with a decorative roll with the design derived from metal work (not listed in Oldham). In the center of the cover is a blind tooled Mandorla shaped blocked center piece stamp. The spine is divided into seven panels created by the four raised bands and the kettle stitch half bands. The panels are framed by blind tooled single lines. The board edges are blind tooled with a single line fillet.
