Sewn on five single raised alum tawed supports laced straight through the paste-boards.
Pink? and white linen with a front bead sewn over a rolled tanned leather core.
Gilt on all three edges.
Two brass fore-edge clasps hinging from the front cover and catching on the back. All parts extant. The parts are engraved and have "walking lines" and turning circles as well as small embossed rosettes and stars.
The cover are tooled with a two panel design, the frames are blind tooled with two double line fillets with a single gilt line in-between. At angles in the outer panel is a gilt tulip stamp on a four circle base. In the corners of the inner panel is a blocked cornerpiece stamp with scroll and acanthus leaf on a hatched ground. In the center is a mandorla shaped arabesque strapwork centerpiece stamp on a pin-dot ground. On the back cover above the centerpiece stamp is a the Phelips family crest of a burning brazier. The spine is divided into six panels with blind tooled and gilt lines tooled above and below the raised bands. In the center of the panels is a large five petal floral stamp. A later orange leather label with the gilt title MANU-SCRIPT was adhered in the second panel. The board edges are blind tooled with a blind tooled single fillet.
