Decorative Description: 
The covers have a variable spaced triple line border with the gilt coat of arms of Auguste de Thou (as a bachelor) stamped in the center; (argent a chevron sable between three gadflies). The spine is divided into six panels framed with gilt double lines. The title is gilt in the second panel all the others are stamped with large and small monograms of Auguste de Thou, IADT. The board edges and turn-ins are blind tooled with a single line fillet.
