The covers are blind tooled with a two panel design with the frames tooled with single and double line fillets, the outer pane is filled with a medallion head roll, with coats of arms and rampant lions, signed with the initials B L W. In the center of the front cover is a large elaborate panel stamp, with an oval center with a perspective view of David playing a harp with a dog at his feet and a book on a desk in front of him. At the corner of the panel are female figures playing musical instruments, harp, lute, and flute, the plate is signed with the initials I I K. above the plate are the initials (above): "MHA" and date (below): 1578. The back cover is stamped with a different panel stamp, with the same format of a central oval with three figures at a well with a cityscape in the back ground with figures at the corner representing the four virtues.
