The covers are gilt with an ornamental decorative border comprised of a gilt wave roll, a wide single line fillet, a pin-dot roll, and a double line fillet. Inside the border is a gilt dentelle design with volutes and fleurons and gilt dots, with large corner ornaments. The spine is divided into six panels, each framed with gilt double lines and a wave roll with small fleurons at the corners and a larger fleur de lys in the center. The title is gilt in the second panel and the date is tooled in the bottom panel. The board edges and head caps are gilt with a double line fillet. The turn-ins are gilt with a single line and a double line fillet with a crescent at the corners. The binder's signature stamp ASPER FRÈRES is tooled at the bottom of the front turn-in.
