Bound in lightly diced full Russia calfskin.
Sewing: 
Sewn on 6 single recessed cords, laced through the boards.
Headbands: 
Front bead double tiered, sewn with white, red and green silk button hole thread over a round paper cores.
Edge Treatment: 
Pale green colored edge, partially abraded/faded.
End Papers: 
Red, pink, green, yellow and dark blue, antique Turkish or spot pattern, marbled paper pastedown and flyleaf (lined to one of three laid endpapers). The inner joints reinforced with Japanese paper.
Decorative Description: 
The covers with a gilt roll –tooled border of sequential pattern of three circles and elongated oval, with a floral tool at inner angles. The spine gilt in six decorated and three lettered compartments with gilt-tooled bands of lines and the same sequential tool used for the covers. The six compartments each with a complex ornament composed of an urn in a medallion centered on a narrow worked bar, surmounted by a rosette with trailing foliage, and supporting a descending palmetto and beadwork swag, corners with rondel and festoon of beadwork with foliated ends. Gilt lettered LONDON in a narrow compartment at the head of the spine, similarly at the foot MDCXXIII, SHAKESPEARE is tooled on a dark green calfskin skiver label beneath the first of the six decorated compartments. The squares and the edges of the boards are gilt-tooled with a wide diagonal line and thin broken line roll.

Boxed in a "Folger Phase box" a three flap housing with ribbon / Velcro closure.
