Technical Description:
Text of eleven sections with two endpapers either side is stab stitched with double thread through four holes. Four narrow alum-tawed thongs are brought across the slightly rounded spine at the four holes and are caught underneath the sewing thread and held in place. (They would then have been laced through the covers.) Remnants of two silk fore-edge ties.

Other Details:
The Prince of Wales's feathers may appear on this binding because Thomas Coryate, who recounted his travels in Coryats Crudities and in Coryats Crambe, held some minor post in the household of Henry, Prince of Wales. This cannot be Prince Henry's own copy as that would have passed with the rest of the Old Royal Library to the British Museum in 1756. The sewing structure on this book is rather unusual. While giving the outward appearance of a conventionally bound book, with the alum-tawed slips laced through the cover, the book has been stab stitched together, with no evidence of the text ever having been sewn in the traditional way.
