An early owner has annotated this book and written inside the upper cover an inscription found on "an old wall in Verona"; owner's name erased at the foot of the title page; "Franciscus Evangelista Physimedicus 1690," signature on title page (a note on the front endpaper records that he practiced medicine at Borgo San Sepolcro); purchased by H. C. Folger as part of the library of W. T. Smedley (b.1851).

Technical Description: 
Resewn onto three semi-recessed cords. Original pastedowns and two endpapers tipped on. Flat spine. Pink edges. New headand tailbands worked in brown silk. Original corners mitered. Evidence of two textile fore-edge and single head and tail ties.

Decorative Description: 
Triple fillet border and intersecting panel. A knot or rope pattern tool forms a border to the panel which is decorated with an ogive centerpiece, tooled in two halves, and fleurons. Spine tooled with a single-line pallet with saltires in each of the four compartments. A fillet decorates the turn-ins.
Other Details: 
This binding is by an anonymous workshop that also bound a Greek manuscript (Vat. gr. 67) and three printed books in the Vatican library.
