Dark brown calfskin, partially rebacked and repaired with light brown calfskin.
Sewn on six single raised alum tawed supports laced straight through the boards.
Edge Treatment:

Evidence of two fore-edge ties.
Decorative Description: 
Tooled to a center and cornerpiece design, with an outer border of a double blind line with a single gilt line in-between. At the corners is a gilt corner ornament with a fan base with a dotted collar and an arabesque crown. The center ornament is a hatched cartouche with the gilt initials H G on either side. The spine is divided into seven panels with gilt cone and crowning florets stamps in the center of each panel. The board edges were gilt with a vine roll.
