Covering Material: 
Originally covered in brown calfskin with oil-tanned spine covering. Original covering was torn away, leaving bare boards with spine covering intact. It was recovered in brown calfskin in 2008 reusing the original spine covering and furniture.
Sewn on six double raised hemp cords laced at slight angles left to right through the boards.
New back bead linen thread headbands sewn over hemp cord core.
Edge Treatment: 
Sprinkled red.
End Papers: 
New, flyleaf and paste-down.
Two fore-edge clasps hinging from the front boards and catching on the back. Original vellum reinforced oil tanned leather straps, some new cut brass pins used to secure strap and catch plates. Spine covering held in place with brass edge strips riveted in place. The brass hasp has a chased wavy line design filled with rows of individually stamped small tools into vine designs and crescents.
Decorative Description: 
New blind tooling is copied from impression left on the cardboard after original leather was removed. Two panel design made from a double line fillet the two frames joined at the corners.
