Henry Barrett describes himself as one of the yeoman of the Queen's Majesty's most honorable chamber and one who had been moved "to write of such experience of knowledge as I have by my few years travail amongst divers nations obtained and gotten." A Henry Barret wrote The arming of a Christian Warrior, 1549 (STC 1499).
Incomplete; first part only.
List of contents (see latter part) suggests a fuller account was intended. The numbers in this list do not correspond either to chapter numbers or folio numbers. There are many diagrams of troop formations. Some of the contents correspond fairly closely to later English works on military tactics, e.g. Thomas Styward's The pathway to martial discipline, 1581, and William Garrard's The art of war, 1591.
