Edwin Parsons, Fine Art Dealer and Publisher, 5 Amersham Rd., Putney, London SW15 , September 1928, £22.10.0, as by Sir Robert Kerr Porter (bought at same time as Shylock, no. 102, and Hamilton, no. D29). Entitled in the Folger files "Falstaff at Boar's Head Tavern."
Condition reviewed the painting is executed on a pre-primed canvas. Wide separation cracks had been covered by colored glazes from a past restoration
Conserved 19910000 small hole punched above Falstaff's left elbow was repaired. The paint film was cleaned and inpainted and the canvas relined
Exhibited: Mead Art Building, Amherst College, "Henry IV" (no catalogue), 1959, as "Falstaff at the Boar's Head Tavern" by Porter.
