Notes (Hamnet):
Subject: Both drawings illustrate Act IV, Sc. 3 of Love's labour's lost. The first pictures a man, possibly the King, leaning against a tree reading a letter. A cupid is pictured in the branches of the tree above the man and a stringed instrument is on the ground at left. In the second picture the man is standing in front of the tree and rather than a cupid in the branches, there is a man in the tree. No musical instrument is pictured.
