Notes (Hamnet):
History: Drawings were designed as illustrations to a gift book edition of Merry wives of Windsor which was published by William Heineman in 1910. The volume was printed with 40 illustrations which were reproduced as three-color process prints and inserted to the printed work on mounts. Thirty three of the 40 published illustrations are represented in this collection. The original watercolors were exhibited in 1910 at the Leicester Galleries, London. FSL has 2 copies of the printed work, one being the deluxe edition bearing the signature of Thomson (PR 2826 1910b-1 Sh.Col. & PR 2826 1910b-2 Sh.Col.).
