Transcription:
To make Orange Water with Herbs
Take two handfuls of Balme, & two handfuls of Mint, one
handfull of Rosemary one handfull of Rue, & shred them small
then take all the peeles of sixty Oranges, cutt them in peices then
cover them over night in scalding hott water, then take them
out, & stamp them together, then take two handfuls of marrigold
flowers, one Ounce of Cardimum, then bruise them, & putt the
water into the still then the herbs, then your Oranges, then the
marrigold flowers, then the Cardimum, then put to them fiue
quarts of brandy, soe still It of in an Alembick & sweeten ^ it to your
tast, then Bottle It vp
A surfett Water
Take halfe a peck of red poppyes pulled, two quarts off
Aniseed water, half an ounce of Aniseed, half an ounce of
sweet fennell seed, a quarter of a pound of figs sliced,
half a pound of Raisons of the Sunn stoned, half a handfull
of sweet Marjoram with a little Angellico put these together in an
Earthen pott, & lett it stand nine days then straine them out, And
putt in a quarter of a pound of sugar Candy, halfe a dram of
Alcermis not perfumed
The Palsy Water
Take sixteen Gallons of Mallagoe Wine, draw from them sixteen
quarts of the spirrits, the second time draw of 4 quarts of the spirrits
then take sage, Rosemary, & Bittony flowers of each half a handfull
Burrage, Bugloss flowers, & of Lillium Convalium flowers one
handfull, Infuse them as they come in season in the spirrits then add
to them Balme Leaues, Motherwort, & Bay leaves Leaves of oranges
with the flowers of each an Ounce, After they haue stood some days
Distill them, take a Gallond of Lavender flowers infuse them Twenty
fower howers in the Ressidue of the spirrits, then distill both parcels
together & add to them the outward Rind of Cittron, Piony seed culled
of each six drams, Cinamon, nutmegs, mace, Cardimum, ounces
yallow saunders of each halfe an Ounce, Lignum Alloes a dram
Iujubes stoned a pound infuse them, sett them in the sunn for six
weeks, then straine them, then hang in a silk bagg prepared pearl 2 drams
smitagdis & Ambergrease one scruple, Musk & safron of each
half a scruple, red Rose leaues, red & yellow saunders An Ounce

Mint, & lime tree flowers of Each fower handfulls Methridate
six ounces, three Nutmeggs sliced, distill these in one Gallond
of new Milke and three pintes of white wine vntill fower
quarts to distilled, then put them vp into bottles, & a peice
of sugar into every bottle.

Take Burrage Rue & Scordium of each fower handfulls Celendine
Leauess & Rootes & Cardus of Each two handfulls Bettony one Good
handfull zedory roots, Angollico Roots, Tormentill Roots of each halfe
an Ounce, cittron peale dryed halfe an Ounce Clove gelliflowers dryed
two ounces Cinamon cloves Mace & Red Roses dryed of each a quarter
of an Ounce Venice Treacle Methridate of each 3 Ounces Troches of
vipers two ounces, Cardus seed Cittron seed & yellow saunders of each one
ounces Lett them be bruised, & Infused into two quarts of Canary sack
one quart of the best spiritt of wine let It be infused 48 howers in
the Alembick & afterwards drawn dry by a Gentle fier
The virtue of this Bezar water
It is an approved Antidote against all Contagious desease as the
plague, purples small pox or the like for the preventing thereof two
Spoonefulls is to be mixed with an indifferent draught of bear to be drunk
in the Morning fasting, but to the Infected 3 good spoonefulls to be
mixed with Cardus, or Angellico Water that is distilled cold onely of the
herbs 6 spoonfulls & for want of these waters in cleare possett drink
by provoking A Moderate sweat will Expell the Malignity of the
Maledy the patient being Kept temperately warm It is likewise
an Experienced Remedy in a violent Surfett when the stomack is
oppressed with winde Cold flegme or any superfluity It effectually
digests & In these cases to be Drunk of it selfe without Any Mixture.

Take two pound of Cinamon well bruised, steep It in two Gallonds
of spirrit of wine for two dayes, & two nights, then distill It with
two pound of Sugar, & still it in an Alembick, or cold still, preserve the
first quart by it selfe which is the spirit, the second, & third together
the rest by It selfe./
