Madame
I am sorie, that I must write vnto your Ladyshipp of our losses, On Tewisday was
sevenight in the daie time one of the best Turkeys was stollen owt of one of
the Bartons, or owthowses, One of them before that time was missing, and at
length founde sittinge vpon two egges, the rest had beene taken away. That
night next after the losse of the Turkye one of those which belonge to our howse
came not to bed vntill one of the Clocke after midnight, but I cannot
accuse him. I hope wee shall haue a dozen or more of Capons against your
Ladyshipps comminge, one died in the cuttinge The Turkeys weare howsed
every night for a good space before, and therefore wee could not but take
notice of the time when wee lost her. your maidens doe fall to spinninge of
the flaxe you sent. The Apples doe decay by meanes whereof wee are
inforced to send them to the Markettes, to Glastonburie & Bridgewater.
The widowe Croydon and the rest who are in suite haue (as I heare) more
comforte in their cause of late then heretofore, and yet she is willinge, as
I am informed, to yeelde vnto my Ladie Vanlore 400li. so as my Ladie will
accept thereof, and take the time to prevent Atwayes execucion.
If my Ladie Vanlore shalbe pleased to accept of it, and begin a suite of
the bond of 400li, which remayneth yet vncancelled, this speedie course
must be taken. A writt must be sent downe, and vpon the servinge
thereof, she will geue a warrant vnder her hand to an Atturney to
confesse the accion that so iudgement and execucion may be awarded
against her the next terme. I leave this to the consideracion of
Sir Edward Powell and of your Ladishippe.
I am offered more for Barlie then the Markett will yeelde, yet I am
fearefull to deale, being loth to offende. As good barlie as ours is
sold for iiis iiiid the buszhell. yet I can haue - iiis viiid. if I would sell
300. bushells together. but I will choose rather to sell i00. buszhell better
cheape, then to adventure so much. Our wheate doth now prove good, so
I hope our Barlie will. So praying vnto the almightie for the true
happines of my Ladie Vanlore; Sir. Edward Powell, and of your selfe,
I take ^leave & rest:
Your Ladishippes
humble servaunte
Io: Beale.
