24. Mrs Wareopps receipt for Ink.
Half a pound of Gauls.
4 onz Green Copperas. 4 on Gum arabeck, dissolve
the Gum in a pint of white wine Vinager on the fire,
put all into a stone bottle with 5 pints of rain
water, shake it often for several days.
To make Blacking for Shoes. that wears
well & dont Come off.
1/2 onz Gum arabick. 2 onces of Lampblack
boyled together in a pint of two penny ale
Black Ink.
aug 2. 1756. I put 5 onces & 1/2 of Blew Galls, &
5 onz Gum arabick into water by it self till dissolved
(acc to my Mothers receipt) 4 onces of Green Copperas
in all about 5 pints of Rainwater. above all
It must be well digested, & often shirrd to wast the
Ingredients, otherwise it will write pale & apt to sink
as I found the last time. for wanting Ink, J put
boyled water upon ye Galls & Copperas together: & the Ink
was both pale & sunk.
