REFINE

Browse All : Simply tooled with a blind tooled triple line fillet border. The spine is divided into seven panels. In the late 19th century the spine was gold tooled. The abbreviation of the author and tile are gilt on an orange leather label in the second panel. In the top panel the crest of Henry Edward Bunbury (lion head over crossed swords) is gilt on a green leather label. Around the edges of the label is a gilt garland of vines and rosettes. The tops of the raised bands are gilt with a wide line crosshatched roll. The other panels are filled with two generations of gilt tooling, the lower (duller gold) has a large leafy center stamp with pomegranate. Above and around the margins is a large clematis flower stamp with broad leaf stem. The bottom panel has gilt four rows of a spiked star between lines. The board edges are gilt with a solid and hollow decorative egg roll.
